David Silva Sánchez is a PhD student in Applied Mathematics, specializing in computational methods for Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM). He graduated with a degree in Physics from Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia. Following graduation, he spent a year as a Guest Researcher at the Flatiron Institute. Currently, he is conducting his doctoral research under the guidance of Professor Roy Lederman at Yale University (Department of Statistics and Data Science) and Dr. Pilar Cossio at the Flatiron Institute’s Center for Computational Mathematics. David’s research focuses on developing methods to address configurational heterogeneity in Cryo-EM, particularly through the integration of statistics computed from the Cryo-EM data, and Molecular Dynamics simulations.
